Avoiding A Hurricane: How to Evaluate Your Anesthesia Provider and Ensure Your OR's Success

In May 2012, Somnia Anesthesia was privileged to serve as a gold exhibitor at the Becker's Hospital Review Annual Conference conference and was also afforded the opportunity to speak during a Friday session.  CEO and President Marc Koch, MD, MBA, was the featured speaker and highlighted several important points during his presentation, “Avoiding a Hurricane: How to Evaluate Your Anesthesia Provider and Ensure Your OR’s Success.”

Among the major bulletpoints, Dr. Koch stressed the importance of early and ongoing evaluation of an anesthesia provider; the length of time (18 months) it takes to explore new options and change providers; and the five early warning signs of suboptimal anesthesia services - clinical inefficiency and Ineffectiveness; discord and disconnect; customer dissatisfaction; administrative problems; and anesthesia group's contingency planning.
